Features Update: Brooklyn’s Calmer

Recording as Calmer, Collin Palmer produces highly experimental, jazz-driven music that owes as much to Miles Davis as it does to contemporary electronic artists. I’ve written a lengthy feature piece on Calmer for PopMatters that’s published here. In a week or so, I’ll have a post detailing some of the things that Calmer and I talked about that I edited out of the piece for PopMatters. For now, check out my story, and all the other nifty stuff they’ve got going on over there today.

  1. Calmer is such a great find. i wish this was a full LP.
These songs give me hope that there is someone out there really finding there own voice and not just doing what is cool for the moment.
    thanks for a great article

  2. Thanks a lot for reading, Steven — yes, Calmer’s stuff is really distinctive. A great EP!
