Reviews Update: Nathan Fake

Hard IslandsPopMatters ran my lengthy review today of the new Nathan Fake effort. Read it here. Hard Islands is less of an album than it is a longer EP, in the tradition of James Holden’s The Idiots Are Winning. Downloads and details after the jump.

Not surprisingly, Fake’s Hard Islands is loaded with techno alchemy — in looking back at his pre-Drowning material (see the video for Drowning’s “You Are Here”), the new rhythms and sometimes gritty synths swerve all over the place. Check out what I thought here, and download a mix of the new material as prepared by the artist at Allez-Allez, and get Fake’s podcast for ClashMusic here. More updates on the way this week.
